Lennox was founded back in 1895, it is one of the oldest HVAC brands that is still around today. The company was founded by Dave Lennox who was the owner of a railroad machine repair business. Dave built and marketed the first riveted-steel furnace. By 1904 Dave decided to sell the business to D.W. Norris who named the company Lennox Furnace Company. In 1923 Lennox expands by building a warehouse in Syracuse New York and later on added a factory to the warehouse. Lennox pioneered the residential forced-air furnace in 1935. It wasn’t till 1952 that Lennox began selling air-conditioning systems. Lennox was the first to develop a two-speed hermetic compressor, paving the way to significant energy cost savings.
